It's be a over a moon (month) since the regal stallion Aubrey lost most of his herd, including his mate Kira, and his new little filly Kimora. Aubrey is with his little colt/foal Stark, now both of them are in search for their family. Aubrey, " I know your scared my son, but with Equus help, he will guide us to your dam, my precious Kira. Aubrey stop on a small hilltop, and bellowed out, "KIRA WHERE ARE YOU...."

Kira nuzzled the painted bay foal at her hooves, her sleeping daughter, Kimora. A little more than a month ago, a storm had broken apart her family and herd. The lightning bolts scattered the herd members, and struck down a few. In the frenzy, she'd only had thought to make sure that her little daughter was safe, but in turn lost sight of her family.
Now all that remained with her of her herd was her daughter, about 3 mares, and herself. When the rain stopped, it was made clear that it had washed away the smells of her herd, and that she was far from home. The land they had been led to was nowhere as rich. The grass was dry, and could cut ones mouth if not careful. The earth was hard, dusty with a few rocks in between. There were also no trees here. She was lucky that there was just enough food to feed the others, and make milk for her foal. There were also small pools of water, but they nestled in between rocks.
"Don't worry, my little one," Kira said softly to her daughter, "We'll be home soon with you sire, and siblings."
Meanwhile, in a land far from his mother, Stark, a chestnut appaloosa, followed behind his sire. His blue eyes scanned the horizon, searching for his dam. [b"we'll find her, dad. She's a strong mare."][/b]

Aubrey waited for a reply from his call, lowering his ears and head, "nothing he whispered, it's hopeless Stark, it's been over a moon, no telling where they went, into the mountains, the dried plains. I know your dam is strong, and protecting my little filly, letting out a sigh, "I miss them so...so...much. Still on the hilltop, staring at the vast land. "Well Stark, we tried the the mountains, and nothing, no scent nor anything. Turning to the remaining stallions with him "guys" we'll try the plains, if our mates aren't there, then it's no use, there gone..." One of the stallion replied, "leader, it will take suns till we reach the plains, you know how the plains are, dried with little to eat or water. Aubrey, "Kira is a strong lead mare, she knows what to do to keep herself my daughter, and who ever with her, safe...."

"I agree with you, dad." Stark said to him, and the other stallions. "When it really comes down to it, my mother knows how to keep a herd alive in the worst conditions. She'd make sure the herd's safety was addressed before her own." He then looked to his sire.
"Come on dad. Let's go bring them home." Stark said.
Carried by the wind, a shrill whinny reached Aubrey's ears. It was one he knew very well. It belonged to his daughters mate, Ban.

Ban, Twilight's mate, stood a few feet away from his pregnant mate. The paint stallion was all white, except for a small patch of brown upon his forehead, giving him a black forelock. His dark brown eyes looked toward his resting mate.
"Rest, my love. Your father is on his way." he said, lovingly nuzzling her cheek.
Twilight smiled and raised her head to nuzzle him back. Her foal would arrive any day now, and traveling had left her a bit exhausted.
Stark nodded, and quickly followed after his sire.

Star and Aubrey trotting side by side were getting closer, he smelled the scents of the small band, of his herd. After going through a small grove trees. They saw them. Aubrey semi reared with excitement, seeing Twilight. Trotting up to her, closing his teary eyes, embracing her neck with his. "Finally I found you my little precious, I just wish I found your mother too!!

Twilight trotted over to her sire with joy, and embraced him back.
"Oh da...I'm so glad you're safe." she said to him. Then she heard that her mother was gone as well. "What? Mother was separated too? Where's Kimora?"
Ban gently touched Twilight's shoulder, "Calm yourself, my love. We don't need you to foal with such few numbers."
Stark kept watch at the edge of the group. His ears pivoting every which way for any noises. He remembered this lesson from when his sire would teach him how to become a good lead stallion.

I thought I would never find you Twilight Aubrey replied. We are now headed for the dry plains, hoping your mother will be there. Aubrey press his muzzle to Twilight's barrel, sniffed, "but we can't move on, not until you foal. "It looks like were going to stay here for a while. "Ban, Aubrey replied, you need stay with your mate at this time, Stark and I will take care of the group.

Stark heard what his sire said about waiting until Twilight had foaled, and sighed a little. He understood his fathers decision, but was still eager to find his mom and little sister.
"It won't be long dad," Twilight said cheerily. "The foal is kicking up a storm in there." She smiled and nipped at her stomach, where the foal had kicked.
Ban nodded at Aubrey. "Of course."

A small young filly, who had been seperated from her mother by the storm, was woken up by the noise of the near by reunion. She was weak, still needing her mothers milk, small ears pricked forward towards the other horses from her place behind the bushes. The filly snorted, her nose was stuffy as she was begining to fall ill having been alone in the rain and cold weather so long, she tried hard to rise to her feet, but she just didnt seem to have the energy. She whinied out desperately hoping one of the horses she was hearing could maybe be her mother.
Starks ears flicked over towards the noise coming from the brush.

Stark snorted when he heard the sound of the filly whinnying. He looked toward the brush, and trotted over. When he reached her, he took a step back at the poor filly's condition.
"Oh, hello.." he said softly to her, and trotted over to her.

She jerked her head back in surprise, for this stud, was not her mother, nor was it any horse she reconized. Imediatly her small ears turned backwards in fear and she struggled but was unable to flee, instead she remained still and looked up at him with big terrified eyes. Her forelock, mane and tail, although short because she was so young, were matted with prickers and twigs and her ribs shone extremely prominent even in the low lit shade, she was a mess. The little filly began to tremble nervously, all she wanted was her family.

Stark could see that the little filly was quite afraid, and still a young one. He took in the sight of her. She was in definite need of a mother.
"Don't worry, little one. I will not hurt you." he said softly, and gently began to try and clean her as his mother had done.

The small filly nickered, greatfully for him coming to her aid, and for showing her this kindness. She stopped shivering and closed her eyes, feeling the warmth coming off of him, she relaxed almost fully, her ears still forward listening to the rest of the horses, again she snorted clearing her nose so she could breath.
