"5 years?" he questioned, not quite believing the mare's words. He couldn't comprehend not seeing another horse for 5 whole years. He may have been a wanderer but he still yearned for the sight of a fellow equine time and again. At the mention of stallions he blushed and flicked his tail between his legs like a submissive dog. "W-well some of them are..." he said awkwardly, lowering his head.

"Not many horses survive up here without help, that's why some don't bother even thinking of climbing up here." She saw him change to a more submissive mood. "...but some stallions aren't?" she really didn't understand the whole stallion thing! Shouldn't all of them just be pals with one another?

Zoran chuckled good-naturedly and glanced around him again. "I suppose it must be a bit of a silly thing to do, climbing all the way up here. I didn't realise it was that treacherous... I must be more sure-footed than I thought." He frowned slightly and looked away from her, sighing softy. "I just...I get uncomfortable around them, and I think they get unnerved by me too. I can't help who I am."

Jeala looked at him closely how did he get up here? Which route did he go? One she hasn't found yet?!? "Your the first stallion I've ever seen." She didn't get much chance to see her father after her mother left her up here to die.

Zoran's eyes widened, the golden colour swimming around his irises like it was molten and ready to be poured. "Really?" he said, not quite believing what she was saying. How could someone not have been in contact with a single stallion before? It was so bizarre he couldn't help but be surprised. "So...you must have been up here most of your life then?" he said, tilting his head to the side as he looked down at her. "You must have done to not have seen a stallion before. There's loads wandering around lately." He almost frowned at the thought, but held it back. "You didn't really meet much of a stallion, in that case", he added with a small smile.

She looked at him his eyes seemed to change. "Yea, when I was about a year old my mother abandoned me up here. S-she was ashamed of me." She said remembering her mother's hatred at her. "Not many stallions come up here, their too frightened of whats up here. Well, that's what the Eagle keeps telling me..." The eagle he was very fast and was her guide. Acquila was the one who taught her how to survive. She would of been dead if he hadn't flown above when she was abandoned. "Why? Aren't you a stallion?" She said as she walked in the cave a bit more.

"Ashamed?" Zoran snorted in surprise and shook his head somewhat sadly. "No one should ever be judged unless they act like they want to be", he said softly, touching noses with her delicately. "I'm sorry for how you were treated. I've seen many horses isolated from their family, but never quite so harshly." He seemed to relax when she mentioned that there were no stallions around and turned his back on her to trot into the cave, his large hooves clopping against the hard surface. "That makes you braver than most stallions", he said with a smile, turning back to look at her. "And...I am, but not much of one", he said again, shaking his ivory mane. "It's complicated."

"Does it?" She didn't really understand. Under her breath she cursed her mother for the cruel way she had been left for dead. She thought back to when she had come across a back of wolves but she defeated them. She realized that he was trotting away into the cave and she followed him. At his last remark all she said was "oh" She wanted to know more but didn't want to be nosy.

"Well yeah", Zoran nodded in response to her question. "Most stallions I've met talk tough and act like they're princes, but underneath they just miss their mummies. They're all spoilt little colts when it comes down to it. And you're brave for surviving; another horse might have just laid down and gave up. But you didn't, you kept fighting. That's a good quality of yours." He smiled genuinely. He could see that she was still curious, but he didn't feel comfortable confiding in her yet- after all, they had only just met. He walked to the back of the cave and looked up at the ceiling. "This is quite a big place", he noted, rocking onto his hind legs to place his forelegs onto the wall of the cave. "Snug too."

She thought that all horses were like her. Like they had to fend for themselves but obviously she was wrong. "This might sound stupid, but I always thought that other horses had to survive on their own from the very start?" She was happy that she had someone to talk to instead of that sarcastic eagle. "Yea, It is quite big...for a smallish cave. But there are some caves up here that are MASSIVE and have secret passages that lead all over the corresponding mountains! Their the best way to avoid all the predators up here." She watched him go over to the wall. He was a bit unusual but he was very kind. She stood there and watched him but then her eye caught a dark figure behind her. She didn't know what it was but she started breathing heavily and snorting in aggression.

Zoran looked over his shoulder at her, forehooves still resting flat on the cave wall. "Oh naw, not at all. The foals spent a few months with their mother, sometimes even years. The fillies have it best though, they don't get thrown out of their herd. The colts do, the lead stallions don't like competition. So the stallies are on their own for a while until they find new herds." He dropped down onto all fours again and smiled at her. "Except me. I stayed with my mam until she died." He smiled again as she talked about her home, and realised she came alive a little bit more whilst talking about it. Despite being forced up here, she was proud of her home, and he admired her for it. Pride in a place was something he always searched for in himself. His smile dropped however when the little mare began acting strangely, and he tilted his head. "What's wrong?" he asked, taking a few steps forward cautiously.

The dark figure came closer and she took a step back. "I-I don't know what it is. It looks like it's big but small." She stood there facing this creature with her horns down. I f the time came she could defeat it. She just stood her ground waiting for whatever to come.

"Big but small?" Zoran repeated dumbly. He walked forwards with a little more confidence now, head up and ears flicked forwards with slight curiosity. "What is it I wonder?" he asked, more to himself than to her, and stood just a little way behind her, watching with interest. This wasn't his territory, he remined himself; she knew this place, and hopefully what she was doing, too.

This creature was defiantly a cougar by it's movements. "It's a cougar, just great." She didn't realize that she was talking out loud. She heard it's low growl. But she retaliated with a deeper puff of her lungs. {How dare this creature come into MY territory and threaten ME!?!?} She pounded one of her front hoof in anger at this creature and lowered her head further.

Zoran flicked an ear backwards. "A cougar?" he said, taking a few more steps forward. "I've not seen a cougar for a long time." He snorted and moved to stand beside her, blowing air through his nose as he watched the elegant cat's movements. Any usual horse would be paralysed with fear, but not Zoran. His mother had taught him that all creatures deserved respect, and a cougar would only attack if hungry or frightened. Zoran never had that problem; when topping the 18 hands mark, there was little threat that could scare him. Zoran let out a low whicker and stamped his hoof fiercely into the ground, lowering his own head but more in curiosity. He was taught never to attack unless something attacked him first, and that was just what he intended to do.
