Mystic Darkness allequineroleplay.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=bios&action=display&thread=40&page=1^ Ish a little long You don't have to read everthing just skim Please respond with a more than a couple of sentences Keeps the creative juices flowing that way I lifted my head as the sun sank lower in the sky, getting closer to the horizon with every passing moment, and took in a deep breath. My nostrils flared as I released the air and sighed contentedly. For almost half a year I'd been on my own now, and never had I felt so at peace, especially as darkness approached. I watched as the sun sank lower and lower, turning the horizon into a dancing flame that was soon to be extinguished. Such a wonderful time of day...
A howl split the silence, the sweet serenity I was hoping to enjoy for a few minutes, and bringing my attention to my flanks, my ears flicking to catch the sound properly. They were probably a good mile off, those plains wolves, but it was too close for my comfort and I promptly broke into a trot heading towards the firey skyline. I hadn't heard of a single wolf taking on a horse and winning unless it was a foal, but this was certainly a pack of them and with my rather small stature I didn't really want to take any chances. A small copse of trees caught my attention.
"Couldn't I have had one night of peace?" I sighed as I picked up the pace, covering ground steadily until I reached the small aspen grove. The small of dead leaves was a welcome comfort, and the tiny pieces that littered the ground muffled the sound of my hooves rather well. It would be a good place to take shelter for a while if-
Another howl shattered my peace of mind, coming from the West this time, and much, much closer. Another answered it in the East. They were closing in on me...

((Ooh I've been waiting for an opportunity like this!)) Name: Sentinel Sex: Stallion Age: Roughly 6 Breed: Unicorn / Shapeshifter Coat Color: Black Eye Color: Left eye is blue green, right eyes fades from soft yellow to grey Facial Markings: Sapphire stripe over eyes Leg Markings: Two stockings that reach just above his knees in sapphire in both hinds and fores. Body Markings (if any): Tri-pointed blue markings across chest and shoulders, like wings Mane and Tail Color: white Reference Pic (link): captainstarr.deviantart.com/art/Sentinel-Master-Ref-09-132352035History: Was a free unicorn until he turned two, when he was captured and forced to service in a circus for three years as a main attraction. When in the circus he could control his shifting, but now he shifts into his feral form every night and back to a unicorn in the day. Personality: Quiet and formal, he thinks about everything before doing something. Loves a good fight. Played By: Who else? * They were going to chase her. I could feel that. A growl escaped my throat as the scent of hungry wolf washed over me. No, they wouldn't have the time to lay a tooth upon her. I stalked through the darkness like a mist, moving silently toward the largest number of them. I could make out their forms moving in to begin pursuit. A feral roar was unleashed from me then as I threw myself at them, digging my claws into one's flesh. Others quickly latched onto me, scratching and biting, trying to tear me away from the one I had in my grasp. I swung at them with my tail, and instantly they began falling away as the poison entered their bodies. I lifted my head and sank my teeth into the dying wolf's neck, hearing it squeak once more before going limp. I tossed him aside and glared at the poisoned wolves who were frantically retreating. I smirked, satisfied. The mare. She was staring. And here I had wanted to seem like a nice, sane person. First impressions sucked.

((Haha thanks! I am glad you like it!))
The last thing I expected to happen had suddenly occured right before my eyes. I had planned on fighting hoof and tooth against these creatures that hunted me, but I hadn't even gotten the opportunity as a strange black creature with glowing blue eyes turned my hunters into hunted. I was in too much shock to really wonder what it was or be even vaguely afraid, but something poked at my mind as the last hunter was demolished in a single bite. I had been saved, but was it simply to become a meal for another?
I took a single step backwards, thinking that a little extra distance wouldn't hurt, but what chance did I stand against such a beast? It had snuck up on the wolves and taken care of them within moments. I certainly would stand no chance, even by running, so I stood my ground from there.
"Thank you," I snorted, hoping it would understand me, "For taking care of that. I probably wouldn't have done nearly as well against them."
I smiled gently, sending prayers to the moon that it would be friendly to me. I had yet to meet a creature beside the wolves who would have offered me harm directly, but there had to be a first for everything. I bowed my head just the slightest in respect.
"I am Mystic Darkness, although you may call me Misty."

I spat out the blood that lingered in my mouth and flicked my forked tongue to taste fresh air as a substitute. Curse this night! A unicorn would be so much less threatening than this, but it wasn't to be dawn for hours now.
I placed a paw out in front of me and lowered myself in an elaborate bow, which would have been more regal if I'd been in my other form. "Sssentinel. It'sss a pleasure m'lady," I introduced, once again cursing the moon and the hiss that I could not avoid.
She looked stricken but eased as I spoke, probably relieved that I wasn't there to harm her. I too was relieved that I had no ill qualms toward her. I'd had enough meat for a while.
"Might I ask what one sssuch as yourself isss doing out here all alone? As you can sssee, it's not safe in the ssslightest."

"Sentinel? What an interesting name... " I said thoughtfully, taking in his appearance piece by piece as his tongue flicked in and out of his mouth. He was a fearsome sight to be sure, but from what I could gather he meant no harm. His attitude was certainly more one of interest than malicious intent, so I saw no problem in conversing with him for time. It would relieve me of some of the loneliness I had been feeling the past few weeks if nothing else.
"I'm wandering for the time being to be honest," I told him, letting my head droop a little into a more comfortable position, "I've been around for about six months, no other horses really like being around me. I guess the wolves figured out how I get away from them every night though... believe me this is the first time they've managed to get closer than a mile from me."
I chuckled about the situation, cynical as it was, flicking my forelock out of where it had fallen into my eyes and looked into the blue orbs that matched my own rather closely. I wondered where he had come from and what he was, such a foreign creature I had never heard of before. Of course, like all young foals, I had at one time dreamed of meeting new and interesting characters when I grew up, but as I aged I had begun to wonder if such beasts were merely tales the mares told us as a source of entertainment. Now I knew they had been true to some extent.
"If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing out here, Sentinel? Certainly you have more important things to attend to than saving a sheepish young mare who can't keep her wits about her enough so as not to get surrounded by common predators," I said nibbling my lip, hoping I wouldn't say anything stupid, "Not that I don't enjoy your company that is. In fact I feel much safer with you around."

Name: Kolorsha Sex: mare Age: 10 ( but her aging has been slowed) Breed: Clydesdale Coat color: grey Eyes: Blue Other markings: White face, 4 white stockings Personality: Very strong willed, not afraid to stand up and fight for what she believes in, yet she is able to keep calm and think, even when everything's going wrong. Is a skilled negoiator, however she prefers hooves to words. History: Maybe she'll tell you Anything else: Might be important to mention she can shapeshift into a dragon at night.
Oh yes, this is one advantage of this curse, I thought, as I banked into a turn, rolling through the cloud into the moonlight night. It would not be dawn for a few hours yet, and I loved flying at anytime, but especially in the early morning. The wind was cool, so it was harder to fly, but oh the freedom. It was sometimes enough to justify what I had gone through. I turned my head, looking down on the ground below, seeing anoer two equines.....wait. ONE equine....what the hell was that next to it? I soared overhead, trying to get a better view. I still wasn't sure, so I landed nearby, craning my neck over toward the pair, especially the...thing. "What by Equus are you?" I asked, him.

I nodded as she explained her situation to me, feeling about the same. Wandering had been a great part of my life as of late. The fact that the wolves had gotten closer to her than ever tonight made me especially glad I had happened upon her.
"I've been wandering as well. I was once a part of a traveling cirusss, but something happened to it and I was able to get free. I haven't been comfortable ssstaying still for very long, so I've kept moving for sssome time. And I am glad you do not sssee my presence as a threat. I assure you that I will not harm you."
The dragon landed then, taking my focus from Misty. She would have surprised me, had I never seen a dragon before, but I had several times in the circus and therefore she was just another oddity in the world to me. Her question was a bit snide if anything, and it was the first time anyone had ever ceased flight just to ask about me. "Good evening to you too, mare. Sssuch lovely weather, hmm?" I replied as sickly-sweet as I could manage. Perhaps if she had come upon me at another time, say, when I had not been fighting off a pack of wolves mere moments before, I would have been a bit more tolerant of her unstructured curiosity. But not now. Just because I didn't feel like it.

I started as the dragon touched down, prancing about a little nervously. She was obviously very interested in Sentinel as she craned her neck around trying to look at him properly. I snorted and tossed my head but it seemed I was in some strange company tonight and there would be no getting out of it. Sentinel alone had been fine, but considering I had never met any odd creatures before tonight, two seemed awful coincidental.
"Well," I said nervously, "It seems that tonight is rather busy. First wolves, then you, Sentinel, and now we have a dragon joining us. Quite the spectical."
I meant no disrespect, but shock seemed common enough in my vocabulary that I chose to use it again.
"I'm rather shocked really, I've never met anything like either of you before," I said. A sharp pain suddenly shot through my head and I closed my eyes for a moment to let it pass before I focused on the two again. I imagine it wasn't wise, letting my confidence allow me to show any relaxation with the dragon around, even though I knew Sentinel had no intention of harming me, but a headache simply wouldn't do right now.

I nodded my (admittedly larger) head, and smiled, giving the equine like thing a winning, sharp toothed smile. I knew scarcasm when I heard it. However, he did have a right to it, as I had asked a rather rude question. But then was there really any NICE way to ask that? Least I was direct about it, sutle I was not. "Oh indeed, FINE weather tonight...." I replied, noting his lisp. I then turned my attention to the mare. "And you sssstill haven't met one. I'm not quite a dragon, but you will see in a couple hours. Thissss one hassss it right..." I indicated the male with my head. "....I am alsssso a mare, though in neither form am I ssssmall. Name's Kolorssssssha"

I flicked my tongue as she spoke, taking in the essence she filled her surroundings with and storing it away for memory. Dragons were never all the same as I had learned. "Poor Misty, I think you'll be tired of hearing usss speak long before dawn, eh?" I ask in a joking manner. The hissing could get annoying, even to me.
I turned my attention to the dragon. "And I am Sentinel. Pleasure meeting one of your calibre, Kolorsssha." It was good to see that her boldness did not last and that it had, indeed, been nothing but curiosity fueling her, so I was able to relax.

The tops of his wings are the same colour as his markings and the underneath is the same colour as his body Eyes: Electric blue Height: 16hh Body build: tall and sleek like a thoroughbred Species: Storm Horster Distinctive features: His orange and white striped horn, markings on his body. His arsenic grey bone head-dress he grows when he goes to fight. I thought to myself as I glide through the sky. Then a thought struck me, It doesn't have to be a clear night. A mischievous grin spreads across my face as I begin to gather the water vapour in the air to form big black clouds. When it was big enough I gathered electrons in my horn before shooting a lightening bolt towards the ground. Only afterwards did I realise my mistake. "Shit!" I shouted "There are creatures on the ground" I flew after the bolt not knowing if I would be able to catch it. "Faster faster faster" I thought to myself as i gained on the bolt. Luckily I caught it, but unfortunately it was only a few meters above the other creatures heads. I had been seen!

((Sorry for lateness!!))
I flicked my ears as the two talked, listening rather intently seeing as I was just as interested as the shifter was in what sort of creature Sentinel was. I shivered as a slight breeze lifted the leaves around me, chilling the air rather rapidly and looked to the sky. I thought I saw something flying, only to have clouds swiftly fill the sky to obscure it as light flashed above. I had never been a fan of storms seeing as they obscured the stars, but this storm in particular seemed strange, almost wrong, and I shivered again, this time not from the cold.
Instead of panicking or fleeing I simply took a few steps closer to the other two. The dragon was big at least, and that would create less chance for me to be struck by lightning, but I also felt horribly weak compared to them and assumed that they would be able to take on any creature who could attack us.
Another flash lit up the sky, this time sending a bolt down from the clouds nearly right above us. I flinched, my ears pinned to my head and bared my teeth in surprise as light flooded the area, making my hair stand on end with the electricity... but then it was gone. I slowly stood up straighter and looked around, first with one eye, then both.
A horse flew above us... no it was a unicorn... with wings, and he held the bolt of lightning rather gallantly. I was surprised and flicked my ears forward to see if he would speak or not. I seemed to be having the most interesting night yet.

I tried to say something before remembering i still had the lightning bolt in my mouth. I bit down hard onto the bod making the electrons disperse. With my mouth freed I had to decide on what to say. "erm..Hi" I said feeling like a fool, but what else could i say, my stupidity could have seriously hurt one of them, plus two of them slightly scared me.

I jumped in surprise at the closeness of the bolt, hissing like a cat. Poison dripped from the barbs on my tail, ready to defend. My arsenal of fangs was bared and ready to attack. My fur stood on end from the electricity.
I didn't ease up when the stranger got rid of the bolt. It was obvious from the guilt on his face that he had been responsible, and not the weather. I remained silent at his mumbled greeting, holding back a nasty growl that was ready to let loose.
I twitched the end of my tail slowly in anticipation for what the others would say.

Movement caught my eyes, I looked up.......just in time to be blinded by a bolt of lightning. I grunted as the searing pain forced me to close my eyes. Yeah, dragons don't like sudden bright light. Blinking rapidly, my eyes finally cleared enough that I could see what looked like a winged unicorn, holding the bolt. "You dumbass!" I yelled, not caring that I was yelling at something that apparently could throw lightning around. "Next time watch it! That hurt my eyes!"
