He landed easily on the dew-covered ground. why was the fog so thick today? And why were the skies so unnavigable? He folded his roaned wings to his sides as he looked around. It was deathly quiet here and he could barely see more than a few feet in front of him. He would have to find shelter, for he was to be grounded until the visibility improved. he didn't want to risk a broken wing.
Thunder lulled softly in the thick clouds above and he sighed. That may mean that he could get back into the sky sooner, or that he was to be stuck here, wherever this was, even longer. He started walking to find a place for the night.

Name: Bahiti Meaning: Fortune (Egyptian) Sex: Mare Age: 5 Breed: Arabian x Unknown Coat colour: Luxurious gold Eye colour: Deep blue Facial markings: Muzzle dipped in deep purple Body markings: Deep purple band around neck and symbol on left hindquarter of the same colour. Jewellery/adornments: Many silver earrings on both ears, purple ribbon wrapped around left hind leg with silver bells attatched. Silver bangles on right fore and hind legs. Hooves: Deep purple Mane and tail: Deep purple Reference picture: i57.photobucket.com/albums/g234/lid1221/Bahiti-1.png History:
Bahiti was born with her mother, a fiercely independent mare, who had left the father of her own accord. He'd become much too clingy for her liking, and being a traveller of both time and worlds, had done what came naturally to her and shifted dimension. Bahiti took after her mother in her independence and was very confident. She and her mother loved each other dearly, but often had strong arguments which turned into battles which lasted for days, highlighting the contrast in their opinions. When Bahiti was old enough she left her dear mother, though they got along very well when they were not disagreeing over something, they both knew they were not bound to each other as other families were. Her mother, who had command over some kind of magic, tied the beautiful silk around her leg and gave her the jewellery which she loved so much. Then they split. Bahiti had travelled alone since then - known as a Gypsy horse. A cross between a real 'traveller' and a normal horse. When she settled in one place for too long she became extremely restless, as she was convinced that miracles awaited her just over the horizon.
Personality:
Bahiti is as fiercely independent and strong as her mother. She is hot-headed and can be cruel at times, rarely showing kindness. She never shows pity, believing that falling is not being beaten, failing to get up is. She hates horses who rely on others and therefore is not keen on foals and does not particularly wish to have one of her own. Neither is she intent on finding long-term company, she is quite happy to face the day and bid farewell to the night on her own. Bahiti is very judging and unforgiving, and also assumes a lot more than she should. She is arrogant and very strongly opinionated. She is a fighter not a lover and pride means everything to her. She does not really put her trust in others: why should she need to trust them with anything? Once a true friend of Bahiti, however, you will always be one. She is very loyal and will defend you even if she knows what you've done is wrong. But this is a flaw as well as an asset. She will refuse help even if it means sacrificing herself - her own life means very little to her and she shows no fear of death as she believes in reincarnation.
~
Bahiti's light but well-muscled frame braced against the chill which the heavy fog brought, and she squinted her eyes against it. She hated weather like this - it meant she could not examine her surroundings as a traveller like herself loved so much to do. She did not mind the rain or snow, but loved the sun and craved it, wishing that it would wait for her instead of disappearing over the horizon to be replaced by the moon, which she felt no connection to. The warmth which the familiar, golden sun when it gently warmed her back was both comforting and soothing, and she yearned for it never to leave.
Her coat was damp with the moisture from the heavy air around her and she knew to continue would be pointless: She would have to stop and wait until the thick blanket had lifted and she could see clearly again. She raised her head and her delicate ears flicked this way and that, before she walked confidently and determinedly forwards - she'd found a cave. It would be dark, damp and unpleasant, but she would prefer it to staying out in this fog all night long. Some things, like this, she just knew - could just find out. It was a part of her mother's gift, she supposed. She could also tell the future of other horses, should she choose to do so, but rarely did - the process was tedious and also tiring, with mixed results.
She came to a halt before the dark cave, looking around again. She knew that no creature hid in the darkness other than a small family of mice, but there was another presence here, something equine. She would not sleep until she knew who they were. She let out a loud whinny, which sounded very clear in contrast to the cloudiness of the fog, and rang out pure and true. Turning so her back was to the small cave, she stood proudly as if what she guarded was a resting place fit for a God, and flicked her long purple tail, waiting expectantly for a reply.

He squinted his icy eyes as the loud piercing whinny reached his ears. It was now that he wished Lidione were here to light the way with a flame, but she was busy keeping Aero safe somewhere else. The place where he needed so desperately to be now.
Storm followed the sound and gave out a nicker of his own to signal to the other that he was friendly. He tucked his wings closer to his sides as another nippy gust bit through the blinding fog around him, stirring it to make it dance like smoke at the edges of flame. His mane and tail were sent flying around him, jet black wisps on the rough breeze.
At last he could see the golden coated mare and whickered in relief. He walked with more assurance now that he could see that there was a firm wall of stone behind her. "Greetings, stranger. I do hope I'm not intruding upon your home. I am Stormglory, and I only need a place to stay for as long as this fog shall last."

When the reply nicker reached her, the golden mare only grew more impatient. She flicked her tail again and stamped a chiselled hoof, the many silver bangled on it jostling loudly, the metallic sound ringing out through the silence. It was an odd sound, but not unpleasant. Bahiti did not even notice it, as they accompanied ehr wherever she went. Her ears swivelled back as she waited for the other - identified as a male - to arrive.
When he arrived, she flicked her ears forward and nodded her head in a greeting, unsure of what to make of him at first. Bahiti let him speak, then raised her head and scoffed. "My home? This?" She said, and narrowed her eyes slightly. "You're kidding." She regarded him for a moment longer, as if making up her mind about him, then spoke again. "I'm Bahiti. I too, am waiting for the fog to clear." She blinked again, pausing and flicking her tail. "But you're welcome to share my cave until it has passed." She said, which was very welcoming for her.
She looked at his coat and wings one more time, then turned and entered the inky blackness. Her other senses were sharpened, thankfully, so she didn't mind the dark, though others may find it eerie. She turned back again to face the entrance, the metallic sounds of her bangles echoing against the sides of the cave. She waited until they'd faded completely before speaking again. "So what brings you here, Stormglory?" She asked, shuffling her hooves to make herself more comfortable.

Her sharp words put him at unease, but as they walked on and got to talking he loosened up. As soon as the darkness of the cave was fierce enough, his eyes began to glow, illuminating the way for him. They were like crystalline blue headlights that lit up every crack and crevice in the jagged stone walls. He smiled now that he could see, and carried on.
"I needed a place to stay before carrying on to my mate and foal. I may be able to see in the dark, but not in the fog," he explained. The rhythmic jangle of her jewelery was soothing, and it aided the warm sensation of another being beside him in this unfamiliar place.
"As soon as the mist is past I'll be headed to them again. I can't keep them waiting for long." He looked at the ground in silence, the soft beams of blue being cast downward. He was filled to the brim with tensity and premonition and he hated being away and out of touch with the war. The sooner he could be off again the better. "And what of you? What has brought you to this place, if it is not your home?" he finally asked, looking up from the floor.

Bahiti kept one golden ear flicked towards him, sensing him slowly relax. She turned her head to look at him when his eyes began to glow, watching as it grew stronger and into a more powerful source of light. She tilted her head to the side a little: She could see all around her better, but could not see him at all. It was odd: as if were hiding, a silhouette of a creature. She shook her head and told herself she was looking into it too deeply.
The light was tinged slightly blue - the colour of his intelligent eyes. It made her coat appear an odd colour, but these unimportant thoughts were thrust from her mind as he began to speak. A mate and foal, huh? Interesting. She wondered why he'd left them in the first place. She nodded at his short explanation. "Fog is an unkind weather. It seems to dull all of the senses, and when it is as thick as today, can lengthen the shortest of journeys. Even the most alert of minds quickly grow weary." She said, before shaking her neck a little and stretching it.
She continued to watch him as he looked to the ground, but allowed him his silence to mull over his own thoughts and problems. Bahiti herself rarely had moments like this, and when she did never in company, as she saw it as a sign of self-weakness. But this narrow-minded way of thinking was probably a sign of weakness of the mare herself.
At his question she blinked and flicked her ears back. "Like you, I am on a journey, but there is, for me, no fixed destination. I am not traveling to or from my home, as i've never had one. In my opinion, home is not 'where my heart is'" Her voice took on a slight air of sarcasm when she said these words: It was clear they held no meaning for her. "It is not even where my body rests when i sleep." She continued, "It is always moving - over the horizon right now, and I cannot rest at ease until I find it. Because there's something out there, something in store for me, I know it. I just have to keep going, and I'll reach it at last." Without realising it, Bahiti's voice had grown louder as she'd spoken, and more determined. Her passion for traveling was clear.
She blinked as her powerful voice echoed from around the cave - it was almost as if she'd awoken from a trance when she finished speaking. She flicked her ears back not in shame but in realization of just how serious she'd sounded. Flicking one ear back towards Stormglory, she looked at him and raised her head. "It's in my blood." She offered, as though this explained everything.

A smile came to him as her voice raised in her declaration of her passion to travel to that one place that she wished to find. It eased him to see some one going after something with all of their heart, even if they didn't know where or what it was. He nodded when she looked at him as they continued to walk along.
"I can understand that. I once felt the same myself. And I know that when you find the thing you're after, it turns your entire world around."
Storm couldn't hide the smile that came with that. He spoke from his own experience; seeing as his final destination had been with Lidione and her rag-tag family and their shocking history. While traveling he never would have dreamed to be in war, fighting to protect a mare and foal that he loved, yet here he was, with scars to prove what he'd seen both on the outside and in.
He peered ahead into the darkness and grew questioning. "How long does this cave extend anyway? Does it ever end?" he asked. The light from his eyes could only penetrate darkness so far, and they hadn't fallen upon a certain stopping point of the cavern for the entire stroll.

The male spoke with experience, and she was drawn to it like a moth to a flame. Her ears swiveled towards him, and she studied the expression on her face, continuing with her high-stepping, showy walk. She couldn't wait until she could say the same, look the same, though she knew her situation would be different. She found it hard to believe that she, Bahiti, could ever stop travelling - not for love nor money. Love, when she had felt it towards her mother, had been very hard and strong, and she knew that whoever that love was directed towards, it would be of the same ferocious power.
She would never be one to avoid an argument or a fight, just like she would never turn down a dare. As a foal, it had just been her and her mother, and this may explain her independence, pride and ability to cope on her own. Blinking to bring herself back to the present, she grinned slyly and flicked her ears back. "I lied," She said, flicking her tail and looking at him sideways with a pleased expression. "This isn't a cave at all." She paused, letting her bangles jingle and listening to them for a few paces. "It's a tunnel."
And she looked at him knowingly, deciding that she liked him. If they had both not been on such a demanding quest, perhaps they could have been friends. Though this was no time to wonder about the 'what if's. If the stallion's eyes were not shining, there would be a spec of light in the distance proving that they were gradually drawing closer to the end. "And it's gonna help you get to where you're going." She said, with a wink. The weather on the other end of the tunnel was clear, and though she knew not where he was going, she knew that the distance would be much shorter from here.
She stretched her neck out again and shook it, looking at his large, powerful wings. "I would say we could travel together for a while, but you know, I think I may be more hindrance than help." She said, for it was true. But she'd helped him by leading him through the tunnel, and was satisfied about that. She smiled to herself, happy that she'd helped another without being asked.

Storm nodded, now seeing the tiny bit of light that beckoned at the far end of the long tunnel way. "That would explain why it wasn't ending. And I thank you for getting me here. I never would have thought to look for a tunnel."
He looked to her and smiled. She was truly a spectacle; so brave and bold that she shone, even without the help of her vibrant coat. Whatever had happened in her past to make her this way must have been like nothing else. He couldn't help but wonder about the important things in people's lives that forever changed who they were and how they came across. It was a all a fascinating history to him, which he indulged in.
At last they reached the place in the tunnel where the light touched the walls and the glowing of Storm's eyes cut off. He stopped, not ready to part from his new companion just yet. "I want to thank you again for assisting me back there. And I hope you find that thing that keeps you going some day. A mare such as herself deserved the feeling that came with finding the one thing that drove wanderlust.

Bahiti grinned and nodded at him proudly, before winking. "Don't be grateful - if I hadn't liked you I wouldn't have shown you." She said, and laughed at her own way of life. What she said was true - if the roan hadn't been so easy to get along with he would be back there in the fog on his own. The bright mare wasn't kind to others if she didn't think they deserved it.
But he did: She could tell from how he spoke of his mate and foal that not only did he care for them, he would fight for them until the end. That kind of loyalty was rare and when found was inspiring. Well, that was the effect on Bahiti anyway. She felt refreshed and ready to go, and couldn't wait to be traveling again - chasing the dream that she, so far, didn't even know existed. But at the same time, the stallion's company was a lovely change for her. Not that she minded being alone, but a bit of variation was always good.
They reached the end of the tunnel and when she heard Stormglory come to a halt, she did too. She looked at him with a grin. "I already told you, don't worry about it. My pleasure." She said, with a flick of her long purple tail. Then she flicked her ears towards him as she listened to the rest of what he had to say. "Don't worry, I will. I know it." She said, with another broad grin as she thought of what lay ahead in her future.
The mare shifted uncomfortably, shuffling her front feet. She'd never been good with goodbyes - too sentimental. Too much of a display of emotion. She raised her head and looked the stallion in the eye, with a serious smile. "It was good meeting you, Stormglory." She said honestly. "I wish you, your mate and your foal the best." She did not twine any magic into her words - he deserved an honest future. "Maybe we'll see each other again." She said, and stepped out into the blazing sun, taking a few steps then turning so she could watch him ascend into the skies.

Storm ruffled his feathers and lifted his wings from his sides, the sun warming them as they extended in pre-flight stretching. Lifting the wings revealed a long, nasty scar on his side, covered perfectly when his wings were folded but standing out like a sore thumb when they were alight. He turned his friendly eyes to Bahiti and smiled.
"Thank you. And may many bright days come to you as well in the future." He dipped his head regally before thundering across the green grass and lifting off into the sky, soon becoming nothing but a speck in the Grand Blue Yonder.
