Name: Derecho Sex: Male Age: 3 Years Breed: Unknown / Mustang Coat Color: Black and grey pinto Eye Color: Blue Facial Markings: None Leg Markings: Black below knee Body Markings (if any): Pinto Mane and Tail Color: Charcoal grey Reference Pic (link): horsesnhurricanes.deviantart.com/art/Derecho-Right-Side-Reference-74162384History: Left herd at young age due to friction between herd members; now wanders through the southern Appalachains - near modern day Tennessee and North Carolina. Personality: Very shy but very caring Played By: Horsesnhurricanes A fine mist shrouded the lower Appalachians in a veil of mystery as the seemingly endless winter dragged onward. The lofty hemlock trees sheltered the little cove in the valley far below from the light snow that was drifting out of the sky. Amidst the evergreen branches near the valley floor, a young paint horse snorted in disgust at finding little sustenance in the grove. "Ugh, how much farther do I have to travel before I find anything decent to eat?" Derecho sighed a bit, then headed towards the next cove in search of food.

Name: Liana Sex: mare Age: 6 Breed: mustang Coat Color: silver bay Eye Color: teal Facial Markings: diamond in center of forehead, with a snip in between nostrils Leg Markings: all a solid chocolate color Mane and Tail Color: silver Reference Pic (link): legolin.deviantart.com/art/Liana-s-Official-Ref-139181460History: Liana ran away from her birth herd because she wanted adventure. she was bored with the secure life she had and wanted something new. she left when she was three, and since then has been learning the ways of the world, and is now searching for a home of her own. Personality: shes smart and stubborn. usually goes by first impressions of people/animals. she love to run around and play pranks on people. she can be energetic when she's tired. at first she is shy, but then when she warms up to people she's loud and obnoxious. although she is a rather laid back mare, she goes with the flow and isnt upset easily. when things get tough she tries to hold everyone together. she's also the one to stay calm in dangerous situations. Played By: Lianalin In the large expanse of white a lone silver bay mare stood next to some birch trees. her reddish body stood out against the white snow around her. although her silver mane and tail blended in. she bit into the birch tree that was in front of her. it wasn't the nicest tasting food in the world, but at least it would sustain her hungry body. her teeth sunk into the bark, and she pulled. the bark ripped off the tree and she stood munching. her teal eyes looked around her, but nothing was there.

Name: Rowan Sex: Mare Age: 2 Breed: Andalusian/ Arabian/ Appaloossa Coat Color: Black Pinto Eye Color: Dark Blue Facial Markings: Bald Leg Markings: Stocking, sock, and pasturn. Body Markings: White covering her rump and stomach. Mane and Tail Color: Black and white Reference Pic: brokenhoofbeats.deviantart.com/art/Rowan-s-Reference-Sheet-133247605History: Rowan never lived with a herd. It was just her sire, her dam, and herself. They wandered alone until one day her parents were killed trying to save her from a mountain lion attack. She had just enough time to get away. She almost died from her wounds, but managed to somehow make it out alive and has been fortunate to still be here today. Personality: Rowan hasn't had much experience when it comes to seeing other horses. In fact, she'd never talked to any horses since her parents. She did find it fun to talk with rabbits and deer and other animals. That aside, she's the sweetest filly a horse could meet, and has a lot of strange quirks. Played By: BrokenHoofbeats The filly was grazing on the soft, fresh green grass near a cove. Rowan was a pretty picky eater, but she didn't let taste stand in the way when she was truly hungry, and she was. Her lips barely left the ground as she ripped the grass from the ground by their roots and chews on them quietly. She grins and finally looks up with a rather large mouthful of green. The pinto loved the fog. It was beautiful. She exhaled heavily through her nostrils and grinned. Swishing her tail she put her head back down and picked up another mouthful of grass. She found herself in a pleasant mood from the fine weather and beautiful surroundings.

Derecho stumbled into the next valley in search of grass buried beneath the light covering of snow. Pawing at the ground, he saw that yet again, nothing but bare lay underneath. "Oh come on. There must be grass -somewhere-!" Snorting at his bad luck, he pressed onward into the next little cove. This time, he found hoofprints in the freshly fallen snow. "Seems I might not be alone here." he thought to himself as he continued his search for food.

Liana swallowed the rough bark and stuck her tongue out into the cold. that was the worst part about eating bark, swallowing it was hard. she bent down and grabbed a mouthful of snow, letting it melt in her mouth. she heard the muffled far off echo of something. her head shot up from the ground and she looked around. she didn't see another being..

The grey pinto colt felt that another horse was probably trying to graze nearby. However, he was a bit nervous to find out. Being the shy type, he was somewhat apprehensive of meeting strangers. And, of course, he might have to share any food he found. "Eh, I suppose I shall just move onward... but more cautiously." He had been a little uneasy around other horses since his last experience with them, which he kept in a dark corner of his mind and tried not to think about...

Liana decided that she'd had enough tree bark for one day. so she started pawing through the fluffy snow. it shot up around her face and she smiled, then laughed. she started prancing around shooting more snow into the air.

The spot that the filly had uncovered had been devoured. She pushed some more snow around and uncovered some more fresh grass. She grinned widely, but she would have to save it. From what it looked like though, she had hit a gold mine underneath the newly fallen snow. Rowan pranced closer to the cove, tossing snow into the air with her muzzle and giggling softly to herself. A distant sound reached her ears and they pricked back for a moment. The snow on her face melted and rolled down her cheeks as she checked the area around her. She looked as if she were alone, but she couldn't be too careful.

Derecho brushed against a low-hanging limb. Almost immediately, he was showered with light, powdery snow. He quietly laughed to himself then shook off the white stuff. Letting his boredom overcome his hunger, he searched for another branch to grab and cover himself in snow. But as he was pulling on another branch, he thought he saw motion out of the corner of his eyes. After shaking off the snow again, he decided to move in closer. Descending a small ravine and climbing a nearby hill, he spied what appeared to be another horse not too far away. He started to call out, but decided against it. As he turned to walk away, his hoof slipped on a rock where the snow had been melting, and fell to the ground, sliding down the hill and crashing into a tree trunk below. He screamed in pain, but quickly quieted himself for fear of a predator hearing his cries. He thought that he could stand up and limp away, but decided to lie low... just in case someone had heard him. At this time, he noticed the snow had begun to fall harder.

The falling snow limited much of Rowan's view, and the patch that she had melted and was eating was already covered with a new thin layer. She thought she might have gotten a glimpse of another horse, but shook out her head and blamed her poor vision on the snow. Her thoughts were changed though, when she caught sight of something falling down the hill. The noise of the horse screaming reached her ears and she became alert. It was not a pleasant sound, so she cantered over to see what had happened. She went to where she thought she saw the horse fall, and would have passed it if she had not seen a gray mass on the ground.
"Are you okay?" Rowan asked with a worried tone.

As she pranced around the small open field Liana heard the shrill cry of a horse in pain. she looked over her shoulder towards a steep embankment covered in snow. she watched in horror as a shape slid down the hill and into a tree. another horse appeared in the clearing and she faintly heard the question of "Are you ok?" she decided to investigate. maybe the horse under all the snow was badly injured. the poor creature would need friends. she pranced over and stood next to the new horse. Hello? if you're alive please say something.

Derecho had momentarily lost consciousness shorty after he had slammed into the tree. But the sound of approaching hoofbeats startled him awake. His first reaction was to try to get up and drag himself away, fearing that he had stumbled into another stallion's territory. But he hadn't the strength to stand up, much less move. Through the heavy snow, he could see the outline of two horses standing very close to him, and he thought he could hear them speak to him under the dull roar of the wind. Mustering up all the strength he had, he lifted his head a bit and called out to the figures standing nearby. "I... I have s...slid down this h...hill and fallen into th... this tree, and I... I am in a lot of pain. Please don't hurt me." Trying to lift himself up onto his front legs, he fell back to the ground under the weight of the snow and his body. He cried out in agony but then said, "I have probably sprained my leg. That's all. I... I just need some time to regain my strength." But deep down, the colt feared that he had damaged his spine in the impact, and that his injuries could be far worse. The snow continued to bury him, and for a moment he wondered if he would be completely entombed in the icy powder. He said to the horses standing above him, "Um... I... I don't like to ask for favours, but..." Closing his eyes and sighing a bit, he continued, "...would you... at least one of you... keep me company here until I can get up... I fear being lost in the snow... that is, if... if you mean me no harm."

I'll stay, and i can help did you out a little. it's not good to sit under all that snow. Liana said as she blew on the snow sending it into the air. she wasnt sure how best to go around getting the other horse out, but she would try. she figuered digging with her hooves would be faster. so she started lightly pawing at the mound of snow.

"I'll stay too,"" said Rowan. She hadn't planned on leaving the area anyway, but she felt uneasy being around horses after having been on her own since she was a weanling. She saw the other mare beginning to dig the grey horse out of the snow, and continued to do the same. "Are you hungry? There's a patch of grass just below the snow over there, I could bring some back to you," the filly said sweetly flicking her tail. She used her muzzle to move a rather large mass of snow off the colt's back.
