The feeling of his nose on her head as she worked made her giggle a little. When she was satisfied that she had done a thorough job, she stood back to look her work over, "That should start you well on your way to healing up nicely. I guess watching the vet work has actually payed off." She then went just outside the stall again, picking up the curry brush, firm brush, and soft brush in one arm, and a carrot in the other hand. Upon reentering the stall, she set the brushes up to use in order, but not before offering the carrot. "Now to get the dirt out of your coat." She smiled at him, but turned her head upon hearing someone call her name from down the hall. "Great..." She sighed, and decided not to answer the call. If they really needed her, they'd come find her. Decision made, she picked up the curry brush, and started in on one of his white patches, careful of any near by bandages, moving the curry in circular strokes. "Let's make your coat shine, hmm?"

'The Piebald' glances down at the offering, snatching it away quickly, for the fear of it being taken away. Crunching it quickly within his mouth, the stallion snorts upon hearing another human's voice from elsewhere, auditories flickering forward, before immediately pinning back against his crown. His cranium lifts, flanks giving a slight quiver as he stands, almost completely still, aside from his breathing.
Snorting almost viciously, the stallion seemingly narrows his optics towards the door, awaiting another biped to come. With a sharp whinny, the mustang's right foreleg (the uninjured foreleg) slams down against the stable's floor, obviously uncomfortable. His muscles tense up, a head rather suddenly appearing outside the door. With a mixture of fear, desperation and anger, the stallion snorts, charging towards the stable door, the human sprawling back against the ground outside. Slamming his weight against the door once more, the wild stallion does not care to look either Ardelle or the other unknown human, shying off to the corner with a hint of fear. Would he get beaten for his actions like so many times before? Slamming his back hooves against the wall, the stallion trots alongside the back wall, slamming his weight into it multiple times.

Skittering out of his way just fast enough to avoid being trampled, she let her back thump against the wall closest to her, her heart pounding in her chest. She turned her head in time to see one of the grooms pick himself up off the floor.
"Ardelle, what are you doing in there? You know that horse is dangerous. Wasn't what he just did proof of that?"
"He was fine until you showed up... What do you want, Alex?"
"Your mother is on the phone..." Sure, Ardelle was the boss, but she was a lot younger than he was; still a teen, and to him, it was times like this that she seemed as foolish as teenagers tend to be, and he shot her a hard look, "Now get out of there."
"No. Tell her I'm busy." With that, she turned her back to him and went back to what was now, in her mind, her stallion. Again moving slowly and keeping her voice gentle, she reached out to steady him and move his forelock out of his face, "It's okay, he won't hurt you either; he just has a stick up his but." Ignoring the displeased sound from the groom, she picked up the curry she had dropped, petting the horse once more before returning to grooming him.

The stallion halts momentarily as the girl approaches once more, optics widening as she reaches out, presumably to punish him. It came as a surprise as his forelock is carefully shifted from his muzzle, and the stallion gave a confused nicker, glancing wearily back towards the groom, 'Alex', as Ardelle called him. With an angered snort, the equine scrolls his optics carefully over the newcomer, identifying him as the one who put him here in the first place. Lashing his tail up at his hind legs, fully intending to stare out the newcomer, the mustang gazes over at the groom with clear caution, yet with some amount of authority to his stance. Extending his muzzle slightly, the stallion shifts forward, snorting towards 'Alex' and looking him over. He immediately hated the way he seemed to speak to Ardelle, like she was a child. She knew more than that idiot did. With a brief glance back at Ardelle, he gives Alex's sleeve a sudden nip, tossing his cranium and returning his attention to Ardelle, watching her casually as she continues her work, mustering the most innocent look that he could.

He drew his hands back from the bars at the nip, another displeased sound, but the fact that this 'dangerous' horse seemed to respond positively to Ardelle did not go unnoticed. "You must have been in there quite some time now..."
"So what if I have?" But she did offhandedly give another 'no biting' when he nipped at Alex.
With a sigh, he shook his head. So the girl had a way with the animals; she was lucky, that horse would likely kill anyone else who entered the stall. "I'll tell your mother to call back later... but if that horse hurts you, it's your own fault." With that, he walked away.
"He won't..." She muttered under her breath, but her tone was more jovial when she addressed the stallion again, "Right?" Thinking a moment as she groomed him, there was a brief silence from her before, "They said you were called The Piebald, but you're a Tobiano... Maybe you should have a different name. One that doesn't connect to that past anymore. What do you think?"

The stallion gives one last disapproving glance over at Alex as he addresses Ardelle, far from oblivious to the fact that the groom was implying that he was dangerous. And they weren't? Well, Ardelle wasn't. Tossing his cranium to the side, the oddly named mustang glances back at Ardelle, hazel optics glimmering, almost seeming full of hope. Auditories flickering at her speech, the stallion gives the teen's ear a quick nudge, rubbing his muzzle over her cheek briefly, before checking if this... 'Alex' had truly departed. Casting the stall's door a quick glance, the mustang switches his gaze onto the girl once more, his true patterns of his coat showing through. Completely pitch back, fading into a brilliant white. With a quick nicker, the stallion bumps her shoulder whilst she briefly became silent, banner flickering casually as he shifts his weight. He bows his cranium in a few quick nods of his head, exhaling softly onto the girl's neck, hazel optics scanning her quickly.

She smiled warmly at his affection, and gave his ear a little scratch at the base, "I guess that's a yes, huh?" With a chuckle, she picked up the firm brush, having finished with the curry, and giving the brush short flicks, pushed clouds of loosened dirt from the stallion's coat, her expression shifting to a thoughtful one. "Well... you've certainly tugged on my heart, so what about Tugger?" He seemed so responsive and intelligent, perhaps they could find a name even he liked if she ended up reading his reactions right. Another thought made her glance briefly at the door, "We'll also have to get you comfortable around other people... Let's prove Alex wrong about you..." Socialization, riding... there was still a lot she needed to work on with him, but he was young and clearly a sweet horse under the reactions that seemed to be rooted in fear, and she was now confident that it could be done.

His auditories flicker involuntarily as they are scratched, the mustang seeming to enjoy the affection greatly. That was true, for it was so different from the way he used to be treated. His cranium tilts upwards as he shakes his head, mane flying seemingly everywhere, forelock once again falling over his muzzle. Glancing back at Ardelle as she began to speak once more, this time mentioning the term 'Tugger', the mustang scrolls his hazel optics across her face quickly, he snorts softly, auditories pinning back for a moment. Following her gaze, the mustang turns his attention to the door, auditories flying back at the word 'Alex'. With a heavy snort, the equine shifts his heavy frame forward, slowly lowering his muzzle towards the bucket of water the grooms had previously provided to him, so far untouched. Taking a few experimental, almost pokes, at the crystalline liquid, before plunging his muzzle into it and taking a few grateful mouthfuls. Flicking his cranium up swiftly, the stallion glances at the stable door once more, a few stray water droplets working their way down his muzzle and neck, eventually falling to the floor below.

"No? Not Tugger? Alright, let's see..." Going thoughtful again, she picked up the soft brush for the final polishing effect, using a similar motion to what was used with the firm brush, working as he drank. "Oreo is too common for a black and white coat... hmm..." She looked around in hopes of maybe getting an idea. Not seeing anything, she looked at him again, "What about Rorschach? Your white marking being like the paper, and your black markings being like the ink of an ink blot." She casually moved his forelock from his face again, "I'll trim this for you in a bit."

The stallion glances around briefly as she does, copying her, auditories flickering towards her in silence. The mustang lowers his muzzle once again, dipping it into the water, before flicking it up, almost in a playful manner, towards Ardelle. Nickering softly, he gives her neck a soft bump, nostrils flaring slightly. The mustang gingerly pokes at her ear with his muzzle, breathing into it with soft exhales. Rorschach? He liked something about it, despite the fact that it was an unusual name. Perhaps even something hopeful about it. Awaiting her reaction, he steadies his gaze on her face, before wickering gently. A strategic muzzle lowers down to her pockets once again, far from subtly poking at her pockets in a bid for another treat.

She squeaked and then giggled upon the contact with the wet horsey muzzle, bringing her shoulders up. "Is that a yes then?" She asked, ducking under his head to give him a light hug around the base of his neck. At the pocket poking she chuckled, "Alright, I'll go get you another treat." Gathering everything she had brought into the stall into her arms, she left the stall to put them away, closing and latching the door behind her. Once everything was back in its place, she got scissors, a mane brush, and a couple sugar cubes from the tack room, and went back into his stall. "Now lets fix your mane and tail; finish off the tidying." Bringing the brush up, she started at his forelock, gently, despite knowing that the roots of a horse's mane and tail had very few nerves, but she didn't want to break any of the hair in his pretty mane and tail.

The stallion blinks a few times as a pair of hands wraps around his neck, nickering softly and nudging her ear. As she leaves, he gives a quick snort in protest. The mustang paces towards the stable door, watching her curiously, before drawing his cranium back and returning to his previous position. As she re-entered, the stallion nickers softly, glancing up at her, before eyeing the sharp, metallic object in her hands. Optics widening, the stallion backs away to the corner, edging away as she got closer. The mustang gives a quick half-buck, quickly scampering off to the opposite corner before she could put anything near his face.
Lifting his forehooves away from the ground slightly, the equine edges backwards, unsure of what she was going to do with the sharp object. His auds quickly flicker back and forth, flanks giving a slight quiver as he stands. He slams his right foreleg down against the floor below, tossing his cranium to the side.

"Alright, alright, easy now. These won't hurt you, but I won't use them yet, okay? I'll just stick to brushing your mane and tail." She set the scissors down on the ledge of the stall's window. Distancing herself from the scissors, she went back to him, and gently pet his neck, "Relax... You know I won't hurt you." With her other hand, she brought the brush slowly back up to his forelock, "See? This isn't scary, right? There's no need to be scared of the scissors either." He had let her scratch his ears before, so she knew that at least he wasn't head shy; one less thing to worry about, but it was now seeming like working on his mane and tail might still be a challenge. That was alright, though; things had already gone much more smoothly than she had initially anticipated. Going back to her thoughts of names, she decided to try out the last name she had thought of, to see how it fit, "It won't be too long, Rorschach. When you're all healed up, you'll be so handsome, other horses will envy you." She chuckled and gave his neck another light pat.

His auditories pin back slightly as she places the scissors down, hazel optics switching their gaze between the girl and the metallic objects. With a snort, the stallion bows his cranium slightly, allowing her hand to touch his neck. As the brush nears his face, the stallion flicks his muzzle up at it, before remaining still. As she speaks once again, the equine turns his cranium to face her, probably making her job easier when it came to brushing. His auditories flicker forward at the mention of 'Rorschach', banner lashing up at his flanks. Nickering softly, the stallion pokes at her shoulder carefully, glancing up towards the stable door briefly. Taking interest in the sugar cubes she previously had when she came in, the equine shifts over slightly, giving her pocket another quick nip, before glancing up at her. It would probably hard to pinpoint everything that would set him off, but with patience, and with work, it could be done.

She chuckled, "You like that, then?" It wasn't long before she had the brush flowing without resistance, but glanced in the direction he had, speaking casually, as if to another person, "Did you see something over there?" As far as she knew, nobody was likely to bother her for the time being, but she could be wrong about that; it certainly wouldn't be the first time. Still, she'd just have to wait and see; horses could hear better than humans, of course, but whatever made him look at the door didn't seem to bother him too much, so she wasn't bothered either, and rather, she merely cooed affectionately to him while she worked, and moved her hips out of the way, "No biting. The treats are for after."
